THE MODERN QUEER ARTIST

The Fine Artist Patrick Church/ @patrickchurchnyc

Patrick Church walks into a room and people look, signaling the indistinguishable allure of a celebrity in hand-painted leather. A rebirth of Warhol, the British artist's obsession with portraiture is animated through paint, from wide-eyed women on Hermes Birkins to tearful men on Vetements pieces. Fine art exhibits worldwide have prepared for a following hungry for the 130 hand-painted pieces now on his e-commerce site. Collaborating with BLK Denim this fall, Church is painting a bridge between fashion and art.

The Photographer Christopher Sherman/ @Hellochristophersherman

Canadian photographer Christopher Sherman's way of documenting his accounts with men is an Insta-expose on queer youth culture. Strips of film line his feed, the tactile quality of the medium and invasive nature of the imagery calling attention to his work. Having fifteen years of experience as a creative director, with regular contributions to Hello Mr. Gay Letter and Vogue, speak to the craftsmanship of this multi-faceted artist.

The Designer Alejandro Gomez Palomo / @palomospain

At the forefront of fashion’s gender role revolution is Spanish designer Alejandro Gomez Palomo of Spanish fashion house Palomo Spain. The menswear designer's eccentric twist on women’s dress culture has driven wonder since his first show ‘Objecto Sexual’ at Men's Fashion Week in New York this past fall. The launch of his namesake label was the next step in fashion’s gender dissolution, where he turned the ‘gaze’ on men in his NSFW Spring 2017 campaign and staged a flamboyant matador-inspired Spring 2018 show in Paris.
