The living room of the Laura suite of La Donaira in Andalucia

There’s a compelling agricultural-hospitality project that has been quietly establishing itself in the wooded hills above Ronda, in Andalucia, since early last year. An entirely biodynamic farm spread across some 620 acres, comprising olive groves and vineyards, organic vegetable plots, peach, apple and apricot orchards, medicinal herb gardens and pastureland for the owners’ herd of pajuna cattle, La Donaira(; from €250 per person, full board) opened its eight-bedroom finca to the public in 2015 (think rustic cool: whitewashed stone walls and terracotta floors, Beni Ourain rugs, freestanding copper baths). This month, it debuts a full-service spa and wellness centre, with an 18m spring-fed indoor pool, hammam and dry-wood saunas, and products derived from the farm; and early next year will see the completion of five luxury yurts, spread through the centuries-old oak forest for privacy and communion with nature. It’s immersion therapy of the most timeless sort.
